Plastics use 4% of the refined petrol each year. The biggest part is burned (86%) either as fuel or as combustible. Plastic only borrows the petrol that builds it. Also, it gives it back at end of life, either directly through energy recovery, or after one or several recycling.
Via professional associations, like ELIPSO and Gie ECOPSE, of which we are a founder member, we act to develop programs and recovery lines for our used EPS packaging.
In 2009 in France, 55% of the EPS packaging consumption was valorized, that is to say, more than 21 480 T. The local communities mainly use energy recovery while industrial companies rather use recycling.
